Your first day, step by step

  1. Punch a tree. Hold mine on a log until it breaks. Get four or five logs.
  2. Make planks and sticks. Open the bag: one log in the grid gives four planks; two planks on top of each other give four sticks.
  3. Build a crafting table from four planks and place it. Right-click it for the bigger 3×3 grid.
  4. Wooden pickaxe: three planks across the top, two sticks down the middle. Dig some stone and make a stone pickaxe, axe and sword the same way.
  5. Food: villages have chests with bread, apples and carrots. Meat from animals is much better cooked on a campfire.
  6. Before sunset: craft torches (coal on top of a stick) and sleep in a bed — it skips the night and becomes your spawn point.
